Scientists, engineers, and runners.
Meet the people building Gamana.

Kanchi Desai, MSc
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Kanchi is a PhD candidate in Sustainability and a competitive swimmer-turned avid recreational runner. In her current research, she leverages a mixed methods approach including building machine learning models and conducting interviews and focus groups, an approach which combines rich, objective data with lived human experiences. Kanchi brings her mixed methods expertise to Gamana, driving our reflective prompts that will help you plan tomorrow's run based on data, your lifestyle, and how you feel. Kanchi's intuition often guides her running, so she thought, "why not use a person's qualitative, lived experience to inform quantitative data?". She hopes Gamana will help you optimize not just your training, but your understanding of why you, specifically, make certain training decisions.

Gauri Desai, PhD
Co-Founder & Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Gauri Desai studies the biomechanics and physiology of woman endurance and trail athletes. Her work examines how the body generates and absorbs forces during running, how movement patterns shift with age, experience, and fatigue, and what puts runners at risk of injury—from how bone health responds to training in postpartum runners to how training load affects hormone levels in woman ultramarathoners. Spanning recreational to elite athletes through both computational modeling and human-subject research, her work is shaped by her experiences as a former international-level athlete, committed to translating science into practical guidance for woman runners and their coaches. Gauri brings this commitment to Gamana, where her biomechanical expertise continues to shape the force-informed load metrics you receive.

Anmol Jain, MS
Co-Founder & Chief Technical Officer
Anmol is an engineer who has spent the last nine years building data systems across large tech companies and early-stage startups, taking projects from prototype to production. He met Gauri and Kanchi through a mutual connection, and joined Gamana because the technical problem excited him. Running is personal to him too. He races and runs regularly, and before Gamana he built FindMyRunClub, a side project that helps runners find local clubs to run with. At Gamana, Anmol leads the technical build. He hopes to combine that excitement with his own love for running to build something useful for the running community.
